Long flowing tailfin with top section noticeably longer than the bottom section. Maintenance: Because this fish is an active swimmer with gained trust-daylight as well as nocturnal in my opinion they are not good for a planted tank as plants will be uprooted and knocked around. Not really suited for a community tank with anything other than the recommended tankmates. Makes a perfect specimen for a single species only tank. Mystus leucophasis is best suited for an experienced aquarist and and is not recommended for beginners. Water parameters are not overly important for this species, but should ideally be soft and neutral.

Decor is not critical but the fish should be provided with a refuge it can call home. A large flowerpot turned on its side or a length of PVC piping is ideal. A somewhat robust species that can also be territorial and aggressive, depending on the temperament of the specimen. It will eat also smaller fish and may bother slow-moving tankmates. However, it can be kept with more active fish including larger barbs, such as tinfoils or lemon-finned, Apollo sharks and large cichlids.

The average adult is 12 inches. These fish has a dark base color and white or silver spots on the flanks; it spends most of its time upside down. This species is very territorial so it is advisable to only have one specimen, however, if they are kept in a group it is important to provide a large aquarium and enough caves or PVC pipes for each individual to call a home.
